At the recent TCA Summer 2024, Mark Harmon revealed that he is stepping back in his new role at NCIS: Origins. This is the new CBS spinoff prequel that follows young Leroy Jethro Gibbs as he starts working at the NCIS office.
Harmon, who is an executive producer, along with his son Sean Harmon, will be narrating this new series. But, what does he mean by saying that he is stepping back?
Mark Harmon Is Stepping Back In New NCIS: Origins Role
Mark Harmon spent nearly two decades portraying Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS. However, according to Deadline, he is happy to play a supporting role in the new series NCIS: Origins, which is about Young Gibbs.
I’m just pleased to be part of it. And I’m a distant part of it really because I’m not there to make any big moves or anything. I’m just there to support. And how can I help? If you need my help, great. And if not, that’s ok too. And so far, they’re all doing just fine.
Mark is just going with the flow. After starring and executive producing the CBS juggernaut, he seems content to step back and watch a new group of people create something special. Most of all, he is just happy to be there.
I don’t know what to say other than I’m pleased to be part of this time. And I’m fine with the step back to let this cast do their work. We spent a lot of time in rooms, finding this group that sit in front of you.
Lastly, he shared, “And we’re one week in. One week, but I love this cast. And I love what I’ve seen on dailies and what I’ve seen on set.”
