Today, 11 Feb, is a day that holds great significance in the Homeward Bound calendar, as we honour the invaluable contributions of women in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine). On this day, we mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a celebration that resonates deeply with our mission and vision.
This day is a testament to the power of nurturing women leadership, promoting equality, and preparing for the challenges of tomorrow. It’s a day to encourage and inspire women and girls worldwide, recognising and celebrating their remarkable achievements in the fields of science and beyond.
At Homeward Bound, our vision by the year 2036 is to create a diverse global leadership community comprising 10,000 women and non-binary individuals with backgrounds in STEMM. Currently, our alumnae network encompasses over 700 remarkable individuals hailing from 90 different nationalities. Together, they represent the epitome of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science serves as a global platform to acknowledge and honour the tireless efforts of women who contribute to groundbreaking scientific discoveries every day. It’s an annual observance adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, dedicated to promoting the full and equal access and participation of women in STEMM fields.
“To all our Homeward Bound community of women: your brilliance, dedication, and resilience inspire us all. Your contributions are shaping the planet of tomorrow. Today, we honour you, celebrate you, and stand with you on the path to progress and equality.” Pamela Sutton-Legaud, CEO, Homeward Bound.
Let’s create a world where every girl with a passion for science can pursue her dreams without limitations or barriers. #StrongerTogether, let’s pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.
